Winlink liaison station duties

From Megawiki

Winlink Liaison the liaison acts as a gateway from one net to another, or to another system the job situation doesn't really deviate from other liaison duties like on voice.

In fact you may find being a digital liaison is extremely easy!

Messages needing to be passed to that gate way in an IN or OUT or both situations need to be passed thru the liaison.

Winlink Liaisons need to:

  • Log messages passed, On Winlink that is easy, your in-box and sent messages serve this official basic purpose this is automatic.

DO NOT delete these logs, file them in another folder. They may be requested later for postmortems or in case the message has to be resent

  • Ensure messages can are passed.
  • Maintain contact with nets as appropriate
  • Follow Digital protocol at all times.

A Winlink liaison can be with a HF net, a statewide digital net, district net, or local net or between an agency and the net in question. NOTE: There can be more than one liaison!

Some possible liaison stations

  • Racine County ARES Winlink Liaison

In an actual emergency your Winlink mail stays the same. But tactically you can be assigned a position above.

It has been suggested to augment your name to what your tactical is. In your email program for example

Name field: KB9MMC - tactical

This helps other people keep your tactical straight.
