After-Action Report
First of all, I would like to thank all of our ham radio participants. We had an excellent race on a very nice day. The staff and support teams (sheriff, police, etc) have repeatedly mentioned how well we did and how much they appreciate us helping out with the event.
Without such great hams and flawless cooperation with our Kenosha counterparts, our event would not have run as smoothly. A lot more hams seemed to have a lot more fun this year. The APRS was a relative success and impressed many officials.
Thanks for the support and keep up the good work. It's events like these that give us hams such a great reputation when it comes to helping out. - Jim KB9MMA

Swim Phase
- Sheriff wants is on Saturday on boats as well as on Sunday. Seems they have more distressed swimmers and need more coordination with medical, life guards, and staff on that day. Also, in case of getting diverted on a rescue call, bring a book. --KC9EOW 19:30, 22 July 2007 (CDT)
- It probably is not a good idea to have anyone working the boat phase to pull "double-duty" and assist with some other portion of the event. The volunteers helping in the boat phase generally must be on-site 2 or more hours before any other participants.
- That coupled with the fact that the boats used are operated by the USCG and the RCS and very well may be diverted to other tasks during or even after the swim phase of the triathlon means that it is quite an exhausting burden for the volunteers to handle. The logistics of transferring from the boat staging area back to other locations at the triathlon also can make for quite a challenge.
- The USCG and RCS also would like the volunteers to remain after the action for a debriefing. It isn't possible to maintain our goodwill if we are redeployed prior to that meeting N9RGX 10:42, 25 July 2007 (CDT)
- I did remain, and the debriefing was very informative. I have a good idea wha they want for next year's triathlon. --KC9EOW 10:47, 25 July 2007 (CDT)

General Coordination
[edit]
Net Frequencies
- Use of the 442.000 Repeater aided in the success of the event. The use of 147.27 as a back up was also well conceived. Recommend this set up for future standard procedure in all such events. N9RGX 10:42, 25 July 2007 (CDT)

Net Control Station
- Having a net control off-site was also a very good idea. Not only did it keep the net control in good spirits being near everything he needs, but in case of a disaster such as power failures, weather problems, or god forbid that helicopter got a little too close to the crowd. --KC9EOW 19:55, 22 July 2007 (CDT)
- An off-site NCS should now be standard procedure in all upcoming events. N9RGX 10:42, 25 July 2007 (CDT)
