FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KENOSHA, WI--Residents in Kenosha County and surrounding areas who would like to learn how to be prepared to respond to emergencies in their communities are invited to attend a free training course. Kenosha County Emergency Management is now accepting registrations for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training course at the Randall Fire Station #2 on May 19, 20, & 21. The class will run from 6:00 – 10:00 PM on Friday and from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

The CERT program teaches citizens how to not only help their families be better prepared for emergencies, but also how to assist their neighbors and co-workers when emergencies or disasters strike. CERT is a national training that prepares citizens to respond in both man-made and natural disasters.

The CERT Program is a three-day class . The training includes presentations, discussions and hands on experience on topics ranging from disaster preparedness, fire suppression, first aid, and search and rescue. Using their training, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event and can take a more active role in preparing their community.

Registration is free, but space is limited. Participants should plan to attend all three days.

Please contact Linda Botts at Kenosha County Emergency Management, lbotts@co.kenosha.wi.us, to register.
