Racine Annual CROP Walk for Hunger
From Megawiki
Calling all Hams
Come enjoy fun afternoon helping local crop walk fundraiser, for local charity! Help with health and welfare of participants, and also promote ham radio's usefulness to the community.
The Racine County Food Bank is sponsoring the 27th annual CROP Walk for Hunger. They will set up 6 stations along the way and are looking for amateur radio operators to relay information back and forth. The Crop Walk is the hunger appeal of the ecumenical Church World Services, which last year raised $1,660 for the Racine County Food Bank, feeding hungry people in Racine County. An additional $6,589 was raised for Church World Services emergency needs for Hurricane Katrina and Rita in the U.S. and floods, massive drought and famine around the world.
This year’s walk is on:
Sunday, October 15th; with
registration at 1:00 pm; and
the walk beginning at 1:30 pm
The starting point for the walk is:
First United Methodist Church
745 Main Street
Racine, WI 53403
It is planned to have participants we can use these to keep track as much as possible at the 6 checkpoints on route. We are helping with communications, and health and welfare. I will also have "hello" ham radio campaign brochures to hand out for operators.
Pre-meeting- 745 Main Street, Racine. 1:00 PM pick up final participant listing for check, and any last instructions.
