Hidden Transmitter (Fox) HuntThe Racine Megacycle Club sponsored hidden transmitter (fox) hunt is held every four weeks on a Friday. (Every four weeks, not every fourth Friday. It is possible to have two hunts in one month.) The hunt starts at 7:30PM and is over by 9:00PM Hunters and the fox usually meet afterwards for pizza. The start point is set by the fox and the hunt area is anywhere in Racine or Kenosha counties east of highway 45. The frequency of the the transmitter will be given at the start of the hunt and will be in the 2 meter band. The fox will give the go-ahead to begin the hunt over the Lakeshore Repeater, KR9RK 147.270+ (No PL) and then QSY to the hunt frequency. Amateur Radio Operators and other interested parties are encouraged to participate. If you do not have your own hunt equipment it is usually possible to join one of the other teams in the hunt. More information about the RATS can be found on their webpage www.radioham.tv Amateur Radio License ExaminationsThe Racine/Kenosha American Radio Relay League [ARRL] Volunteer Examiner [VE] team will conduct examinations for Federal Communications Commission [FCC] Amateur Radio Licenses at: If you will be upgrading your existing license, you should should have with you; Your FCC issued license and two photocopies of your license. Also be sure to bring with you any additional Certificates of Successful Completion [CSC] plus two photocopies of each the CSCs you may have. All applicants will need to furnish photo identification (two forms of ID are required).
